After a quick breakie of muesli and yoghurt and a goodbye to our lovely host Linda, we got going around 9am, still a tad tired from yesterday's ride, faced with another 70 plus km ride.
In perfect weather conditions, it wasn't long before we were cycling through lovely forest on perfect bike paths yet again; breathing in the smell of damp and spongy forest floor, the sun shining, rays barely reaching the ground. The sound muffled; the world looked and felt peaceful.
Wanting to learn the Dutch equivalent of Good Day, stopped these ladies for a quick lesson on that and other basic things; turns out they they work in a
Retirement Home and were on their monthly walk.
Things you see riding is interesting and today was no different. A lady with a horse, couple of white swans sunning in a field next to a canal; a mother duck leading her ducklings in a canal covered by algae or something.
After checking in and a shower made our way into Utrecht by bus. It's got a good friendly vibe to it. My mate Ellwood would have loved the sight of hundreds of cyclists all over the place in harmony with other road users. People taking advantage of the good weather, having refreshments alfresco style. Boats in the canals taking tourists for a different view of beautiful Utrecht which also happens to have some quirky buddings. If time permits, we'll explore some more tomorrow, in the meantime here are some photos.
